There is also some strangeness about the choice of characters. The Chorus Kids would mean there are four characters on screen per player. Skull Kid is also absent from The Grinch Leak, despite having been discussed as a likely inclusion for Smash Bros Ultimateand his absence as an announced assist trophy as yet is becoming quite suspect.

Frankly, his removal as an assist trophy would point to a bigger role, and he seems a lot more likely that most of the leaked additions. Some characters in The Grinch Leak are nearly identical to his mock-ups in both position and appearance.

Ultimate characters like King K. Rool and Richter Belmont. The first five alleged Smash Bros. Another Zelda character? Sure, why not? Ok, we guess. Another Fire Emblem fighter? Fine, if we really have to. Fighter Pack 2 reads like a video game fantasy, though it might not be that unbelievable.

Geno and Steve are both frequently leaked characters, but Sora and Crash Bandicoot? Just one of those heroes come to Smash would be enough to break the internet, let alone both.

Finally, the alleged Nintendo leaker claims his source already played with Impa from the Zelda series, noting that the new character plays similarly to Sheik also from Zelda with some heavier sword attacks comparable to Ike and a Marth-style recovery. Indie Games Spotlight — Timely Concerns. The Vergeben leaks are a series of insider info from the user Vergeben, a well-known leaker coming from a history of predicting fighting games, about Super Smash Bros.

Starting before E3Vergeben's leaks were undoubtedly infamous on which characters would make the cut for the game.

Though the veracity of his assertions is up for debate, almost all of them have come to be true, with his only faults so far being that a Square Enix character would be the first one revealed as downloadable content and that some form of content from Minecraft would appear.

All ARMS In Smash LEAKS & Predictions - LEAK SPEAK!

On March 16,eight days after the reveal of the then-untitled Super Smash Bros. UltimateVergeben posted a thread on GameFAQs to shout that Ridley was a playable character and that the new Smash game would be an entirely new game but with reused assets.

Exactly two months later, on May 16, Vergeben posted another thread on GameFAQs, claiming he had a reliable source with information on the character roster of the then teased but still unrevealed title. Specifically, he said that Ridley and Simon Belmont would be newcomers and that the entire roster from Super Smash Bros.

Vergeben also claimed that the popular Microsoft-owned indie game Minecraft would be represented in some form. This left Simon Belmont and Minecraft representation Vergeben's only unconfirmed claims. Ultimate Direct on August 8. Isabelle was revealed as a newcomer at the end of the September 13 Nintendo Direct, confirming his claims of her playability as well.

Four days later, Vergeben made another post on a thread, this time stating that a new third-party fighter owned by Square Enix would appear in the game. He later said that he had heard seven different names for the newcomer and that Square Enix was intentionally sending out multiple names to prevent it from leaking.

He also addressed the popular "Box Theory", which stated that there would only be two more fighters in the base game as the box art for the Special Edition of the game had room for only two more fighters.

Though assured that Incineroar and Ken were in the game, he noted that the source for the Square Enix newcomer had never been wrong in the past. In the debate surrounding the banner leakVergeben made a post on October 31, suggesting that Isaac, in contrast to what the rumor was suggesting, was an Assist Trophy instead of being playable.

On November 1,the final Nintendo Direct for the game revealed Ken and Incineroar as the last fighters for the base game, as well as revealing Isaac to be an Assist Trophy, confirming Vergeben's earlier claims about them.

It was also announced in this Direct that there would be additional fighters as paid DLC, which had the potential to include the Square Enix newcomer and the Minecraft content.

On September 16,Vergeben claimed the game will have post-launch content, allowing for the Square Enix newcomer should the Box Theory be proven correct.

Vergeben made a post the day after the Fighters Pass was revealed, reiterating that he was confident one of the characters in it would be a Square Enix rep and that it would be the first of the DLC characters to launch. He also reiterated that Minecraft content will be coming in some form. Hitagi initially verified the Steve and Katalina claims, but she later retracted the Katalina claimsaying that the "deal" was not related to Smash.

On November 21, Hitagi again stated that Steve was definitely coming, but also announced that she had given up trying to find out about the rest of the characters, as the ones she heard about were starting to look like red herrings, including any Square Enix fighters, thus bringing Vergeben's claim into doubt as well. On November 24, another insider by the name of Ryce stated that Vergeben was likely misled about Steve being a DLC character since this claim came out long before the DLC choices were set in stone.

Vergeben made a post agreeing with Ryce and stating that he still heard that Minecraft was still being represented with a boss, despite acknowledging the fact that nobody had found any references to Minecraft in the datamine of the full game.Ultimate have been revealed through leaked Mii costumes featuring characters from their respective franchises.

It's a shame to admit that Nintendo has struggled to keep its content under wraps in recent years, with many of its announcements being leaked ahead of time. It's an unfortunate reality of an industry with so many diehard fans chomping at the bit to know more about their favorite franchises. Smash Bros. Most of the initial roster got out ahead of its formal reveal, while the unvieling of a number of DLC characters have been the casualty of curious minds.

The company confirmed in a Nintendo Direct shortly after that this fighter would be none other than Terry Bogard from Fatal Furyand now we may know the next two fighters joining the fray. A new leak has emerged as spotted by YouTuber PapaGenos that showcases two Mii costumes from franchises that many gamers are hoping to see added into the fold. The costumes in question are none other than Mallow and a Cacodemon.

Ultimate in the eyes of fans. Fortunately, it likely won't be all that much longer until fans figure out the remaining fighters as the ongoing Fighters Pass is set to wrap up by the end of February What is likely to happen if these costumes are real, and this is pure speculation, is that DOOM will close out the ongoing Pass with a reveal during the Game Awards.

From that point, Nintendo would be able to launch a second Fighters Pass with Geno since he's been a fan favorite picks since pre- Melee on the GameCube. That sort of release structure would make the most sense, but only time will tell what the real plans are for the game. Here's hoping that fans aren't left waiting too long though. A new Super Smash Bros. The origins of the rumor are a bit sketchy, however, its claim has since been collaborated, suggesting there's something to it. The report comes way of Marcus Sellars, who claims that Bigby Wolf will be coming to the game as one of the Fighter Pass Volume 2 fighters. That said, this claim is suspicious for a few reasons.

For one, Bigby Wolf is simply an odd choice. The Wolf Among Us certainly has its fans, but it's not even Telltale's biggest series. Meanwhile, the game never even came to a Nintendo platform. The bigger reason this claim is dubious though is it conflicts with previous, official information about the game. In the past, Masahiro Sakurai, the game's creative director, confirmed that any character that doesn't originate from a video game will not be added to the series. Before Bigby Wolf was a video game character, he was a comic series character.

More specifically, the protagonist of the Fables series. All of this is to say, take this rumor with a major grain of salt. Even if Bigby Wolf qualified under Sakurai's guidelines, he would be a very odd addition. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available for the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch only.

Does that mean we are in for a more diverse set of characters in the six upcoming Fighters Pass 2 DLC pack releases? Let's take a closer look at Sakurai's latest statements and what they reveal about the future of Smash Bros.

Ultimate ever again? Maybe not. Ultimate game director Masahiro Sakurai revealed that like the vast majority of players, he recognizes that the game is now saturated with too many characters from the Fire Emblem franchise, and his comments feel like a clue about what we might expect from the future of Smash.

He's been tasked with making the best out of a decision made by individuals even higher up in Nintendo's hierarchy, likely in an attempt to boost interest in the Fire Emblem game. While Sakurai admitted that he occasionally doesn't get the final say as to what DLC fighters will be added to the Smash Bros.

Ultimate roster, he clearly wants to pump the brakes on all of the swordies. That could mean Byleth is the final sword-swinger to join Smash Ultimateor, at the very least, the last one from Fire Emblem. Byleth is the eighth Fire Emblem character to join Smash Ultimateand depending on what you consider a "sword character," you could make the argument that there around 20 of them in the game right now. Not all of them wield a sword as their primary attacking weapon, but if you include Meta Knight's blade and Joker 's dagger the number gets very high.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC Leak Reveals Unexpected Character

Capitalizing on that with a Smash Bros. During the same Nintendo Direct during which Byleth was announcedSakurai confirmed that all six of the Fighter Pass 2 characters have already been decided and are in development. Are we meant to see a trend here with Nintendo prioritizing business synergy over a diverse character roster as part of their long-term plan?

Now that a Three Houses character has been added, however, it must give Sakurai more leeway to add different third-party characters or more fighters from under-represented franchises within the Nintendo umbrella. Either way, it's probably safe to say that Fighters Pass 2 probably won't have a sword-wielder as one of the six characters, and it definitely won't include another Fire Emblem fighter.

Who does that leave? Sakurai is aware that fans want a wider variety of combatants that represent different franchises. There's no real way to predict who the heroes might be just yet, but these recent comments about swords and Fire Emblem tell us what not to expect.
